Scott here. I went for my daily walk in Hollywood today after eating a much too salty cheeseburger from Magnolia. This time, another writer on Dexter wanted to grab some smokes from the Mobile station on Sunset and Van Ness Ave (which by the way has the craziest candy I've ever seen in a gas station -- we're talking gummy pizza, chocolate eggs with little children inside, gummy burgers as well as a bountiful supply of Viceroy cigarettes). So after he got his smokes, we walked up Van Ness Ave, which is where we came across this amazingly sad/creepy little memorial marker. Usually, in LA, we see these sort of death memorials on corners, but they're mostly flowers and candles and the occasional toy, if it was a child. But I've never seen something so downright gravestone-like.

Some people would die to get their star on the Hollywood walk of fame, but Val Pierce gets her own marker, just east of the Star-walk.
Probably not the fame she was looking for.

i've seen them occasionally on the side of the highway but never just on the sidewalk...
